If I wasn’t such a news junkie, I swear I would be living in “Utopia.” The flowers are blooming, birds are chirping, weather is gorgeous and the people are warm and inviting. I am starting to chime in a little bit more on local politics via: Nola.com, the local news & of course my fave – talk-radio. The topic on the radio this morning was about trying to remain optimistic despite all the crime in the area. Then there is the completely new issue about the NBA questioning the readiness of the city to handle large crowds – puh-leeze.

Call me Pollyanna if you want, but truly, I feel 100% safe here on the Northshore. There are some questionable characters running through the city of NOLA, but I see such a police presence that I don’t feel threatened at all. NOLA had a spectacular Mardi Gras despite the headlines & unfortunate crimes that occurred while the festivities were going on.

Now, if I lived closer to the crimes taking place, I can see why one would feel defeated and pessimistic regarding the criminal activity in their area. However, I give the law enforcement here tons of credit so far. Crimestoppers is infectious and will hopefully lead to solving any unsolved cases.

Are you pessimistic or optimistic? Is the glass half-full or half-empty?
