I always thought a USO at the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) would be a great idea. This morning, an email came across my desk, informing me that this idea was well formulated and asking for help to spread the word. I’m so on it! Check out the website here to learn more about how you can help.

It is with great honor and respect for the Military that we announce the establishment of the PFC Brian R. Bates, Jr. Memorial Airport Project, registered with the state as a non-profit corporation.

Brian was killed in action in Afghanistan on October 27, 2009. It is our dream to honor his service by opening a USO facility at the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport in Kenner, Louisiana, for our Military and Military families. The airport authority has agreed to donate the space and we already have the backing of the Mayor of New Orleans’ office, as well as the support of many politicians.

We are so grateful for this support, but this is just a small part of the process necessary to become recognized by the National USO in Washington, D.C. We must now raise $1,000,000 and have backers in place to guarantee the support of this service for 5 years.

Now get on board everyone: talk about it, talk to your employers…whatever it takes!
