Update: For the record, this is not about me! This is about supporting the troops – PERIOD!!!!

Yours truly got into a little Twitter scrap with Carson Daly last night. Well, not really a scrap…just a little of, “Hey – that was my brain child. How are you taking credit for it?” Now most of you know I do not draw any form of income, but instead have pretty much dedicated my life to my now retired military family (kids still need supervision) and volunteering with Soldiers’ Angels while trying to break into the New Orleans media scene. I do my military support work because it is my passion. A few weeks ago, I e-mailed my friend JP of Milblogging.com and asked him what he thought about my #milmonday idea (read his full take on this including published emails I sent him). JP, in his “move forward take no prisoners way” went ahead and started it immediately and it seems to be working. In the Twitter world that means that people are recognizing other military on Twitter as well as causes.

To make a long story longer, Carson started #MilitaryMonday yesterday and with his celebrity power got instant recognition for this. No biggie, but myself and several Twitterers called him on it. I told him as long as he helped with PR for Soldiers’ Angels, we are cool. He has my e-mail and says he will contact me. Carson, if you are reading this, my demands are fairly reasonable and thank goodness you messed with a nice person who only cares about the troops as do you:)

  1. The email & messages some people received over this so called spat have hurt them deeply. If I had been YOU I would have welcomed Carsons support in any form. But NO you decided to make a petty useless hurtful squabble over getting the credit for the idea. WHY in a public forum ? You could have called NBC after all YOU are the head of such a wonderful organization. Next time you decide to dance with wanting credit you will remember this BIG FIASCO and ask yourself is it worth it ? Whats more important MY EGO or the soldiers ?

  2. Me and Carson are cool. There was no spat and if you know me, this is all about drawing attention to SA and supporting the troops!!!!! Nobody should be hurt! I am not the head of anything, I am a volunteer in my state.

  3. Greta, ignore the ignorant ass. If they had bothered to read, or have reading comprehension, they would never have posted. They claim that people have been hurt deeply, but never name who — and I know it wasn’t Carson or you. This is a pathetic attempt to make this about them. As for their claim that this is about your ego and not the soldiers, well, it is clear that they didn’t bother with even the briefest of research, much less due dillegence of any type, and puts them in the Ron White category of stupid, and you can’t fix stupid. Reminded strongly of teaching pigs to sing…

Hang in there, have fun with it, and between you and Carson the soldiers (and Soldiers’ Angels) will come out ahead and smelling like roses. BTW, Carson is onboard with http://TweettoRemind I understand.

  4. Oh my. I was one of the people he used yesterday. I didn’t realize he was trying to take credit for starting #militarymonday. I just thought he was participating. I’ve done military monday for a couple weeks now… and am well aware that it’s nothing new.

Hopefully it’ll all work out. You’re an awesome awesome woman! Thank you for your support and sacrifices for this country.

  5. Delta Whiskey – it really doesn’t matter one tiny bit who started a twitter hashtag! All that matters is people start really supporting the troops – esp Hollywood!

  6. I love Carson ! Think that together & with all the other good people on board, you can really fly with helping soldiers – always need to soar higher and further!
    Love, Mom

  7. Greta – keep up the great work with all your new ideas for supporting the troops! They’re awesome.

By the way, this reminds me of a commercial 🙂

  8. Well, whatever. I know that as long as you’re getting publicity for the military you could care less who gets the credit. That’s just the way you are! And kudos to Carson Daly for putting his celebrity weight behind such a worthy cause.

I hope that together the two of you achieve amazing things for our military men and women. Angel hugs and kisses to you both!
