2/9 realized I switched the title of the movie by accident and corrected my post. Thanks readers for catching this.

My 12 year old could not wait to see this movie. He is the kid I catch with the flashlight under the covers late at night. Out of all the books he has read, he claims this book to be his favorite. He walked into the movie with excitement and hesitation, because he is smart enough to know the movie is never as good as the book.

I went to this movie with my 10 and 12 year old sons, knowing absolutely nothing about it and ran to the bookstore afterwards to buy the book! This movie was full of fantasy, adventure and a compelling story line that sucked you in from the very beginning and left you wanting more at the end. Yes,
Inkspell (the 2nd book) is due to come to the theater. The bookstore was sold out of Inkdeath (the 3rd book), but we have it on order.

As for taking the little ones, it may be a little scary for those under 10. It is perfectly clean for the entire family though and everyone should enjoy it. My 12 yo was a bit disappointed because of course, the book was better. Gotta finish this post so I can go read the book now!

  1. My 11 year old and I have both read the book. As a matter of fact, I’m in the middle of the third book and loving it. We both enjoyed the movie, but have to agree with your son…..the book is always better!
