Hope you enjoyed the 3 day weekend – good for you. If you are in Louisiana, you probably over-indulged in crawfish and Abita beer -I did. Now it is time to roll with your exercise plan. Of course, you have read all the following posts to get you psyched up for this Fitness Challenge…right? Inspiration,, Fitness Goals, Housekeeping -Getting Ready, diet tips and of course RSVP’d on Facebook and commented with the event you signed up for. And if you are Twittering, please use the #GeauxGetFit hashtag.

*** Think positively today and leave all your excuses at the door.
*** If you must – step on the scale to start…but the best measure is a pair of pants that are snug!
*** Change one thing in your diet. If you eat a bag of chips every day, eat half a bag. If you have 2 cups of coffee, drop to 1.
*** Go buy some healthy food to keep around for snacks.
*** Stay hydrated and drink a lot of water before your workout.
*** If you have any prior injuries of medical problems, after you check with your doc, be conscious of them and proceed with caution.
*** Plan your day/week around your workout. This has to jump from the low priority to high priority part of your day. Once you start getting those endorphins kicking…you will feel worse and sleepy if you do not exercise. Trust me!
*** Do not do the same thing every day this week. I like to run one day, bike another, swim another and repeat. It keeps the injuries down and saves me from boredom.
*** If you are new to running, my personal advice is that you run a slow half mile and walk the rest of the way. Do not run, walk, run walk. Just knock the run part out and then walk.
*** Remember, that a lot of good exercising has to do with your breathing patterns. It takes a while to get the pattern going and your form…so be patient…it will come.
*** Runkeeper is a great way to track your activity and even has apps for phones. You do not have to shout it out to the world, but can use it for yourself. And it tracks any activity you do..rollerblading etc…
*** Have fun. You are not alone with this challenge and I hope we can encourage each other virtually on FB or on this blog. Invite all your friends to sign up too!
